Process of preparation :

  1. To make delicious moong dal halwa, start by rinsing the yellow moong dal and soaking it. Soaking is an important process and soaking it for 30 mins – 1 hour will make it swell up and soft. 
  1. Grind the dal into a coarse paste. Remember to grind it without water.
  1. Now in a separate pan, add 2 cups of milk and add ½ tablespoon of cardamom powder. Add sugar to the water in another pan to prepare sugar syrup. Add it to the milk when it cools down. 
  2. Now in a pan add ghee and here, we will add a little sooji and besan to the ghee so that sooji gives it a grainy texture and besan a good flavour. Now we will add the paste. 
  3. Heat till it starts turning golden brown. Make sure to stir the paste continuously to avoid burning. Keep the flame low. 
  4. Now, add the liquid of water and milk to the roasted paste. on a low flame, stir and cook till the time the liquid is soaked. 
  5. Now add your nuts to the pan to enhance the flavor. 
  6. Cook it to make it thicker as per your preference. Garnish it with saffron strands.
